Background
Gatlin Consulting, LLC is a small business, founded in 2015 and based in Nashville, Tennessee. It is a member-managed company that serves the emergency preparedness community with training, exercise, and planning activities. Its primary consultant has 11 years' consulting experience in jurisdictions of all sizes throughout the US.
Our Purpose
Our goal is to provide superior training, exercise, consulting, and planning services to anyone who needs assistance managing or improving their ability to apply community-based, "all-hazards approach" principles to protect the public from natural and man-made threats. This includes private and governmental entities of all types, sizes, and disciplines.
Who We Are
Our senior consultant is Mr. Nick Gatlin, who has more than 30 years of combined experience in emergency response and emergency management/homeland security. Areas of expertise include US Department of Homeland Security’s “Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program” (HSEEP) exercise design, conduct, and evaluation; emergency operations center staffing; plan development; firefighting, emergency medical services, and hazardous materials response. He has extensive experience with the development and delivery of training courses for a wide variety of audiences, and is a licensed Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Technician/Instructor, and Fire Department Instructor I. He has also developed and delivered courses to hundreds of law enforcement and medical bicycle personnel for the International Police Mountain Bike Association and was a contributing author to the textbook, “The Complete Guide to Public Safety Cycling.” He also created the first Hospital Decontamination Course, later adopted by DHS as the only federally-authorized training for hospital personnel involved in dealing with contaminated patients. Mr. Gatlin has developed, conducted and evaluated approximately 200 HSEEP exercises of all types, sizes, scales and scopes. He also served as an Exercise Lead for the nationwide US DHS Tactical Interoperability Communications Planning validation exercise series, supported the development of the DHS Terrorism Prevention Exercise Program, authored a portion of HSEEP Volume V, and led a prevention-focused TTX for the State of Louisiana under the NEP RESP during 2010. He has managed the technical aspects of four statewide, multi-year exercise programs, in addition to numerous exercise and training programs across the country.
As a planner, Mr. Gatlin has provided expertise to numerous entities, large and small. These entities have ranged in size from small nursing homes and schools to development of a nation-wide planning template for federal military installations.
In addition to Mr. Gatlin, we have access to numerous subject matter experts in a wide variety of topics. Most of these experts are actively working in their areas of expertise.
